This nice 8 month to just over a year old boy will be a great companion for someone to love as long as you are willing to work on house training issues. We suggest a securely fenced yard as he is a very active, happy, happy cocker boy. He loves people, does well with other dogs and is a sweet boy.
Meet Rufus, a nice looking blonde very active Cocker Spaniel boy with a natural tail that was never docked. He is 8 months to a year old. A good Samaritan was driving here in NC and found him wandering the streets as a stray. They took him to a shelter to keep him safe and to see if an owner was looking for him. Shelter staff contacted us when no owner showed up. They told us that he is about 2 years old, but our rescue vet says he is indeed only about 8 months to just over a year by looking at his teeth.
He is heartworm negative, updated on shots and is now neutered. He is an active, friendly, loving cocker boy. At the shelter he was in a temporary foster home where he did well with a poodle and an 8 year old child, so a family with children 8 and older is okay. He needs a home where he will get lots and lots of love and attention and he will do well with an active family who would love a nice companion with a great disposition. He definitely needs help with house training, it seems the folks in his past just didn't teach him. This said, please give him time to adjust to a new environment and be willing to help him with house training issues. We just placed him into a foster home where they will start working with him to help him adjust better to a forever home. He will be a wonderful companion for you to love. A fenced yard is suggested because he is such a happy, very busy youngster. If not, you will always need to keep him on a leash hooked to a harness when he goes outside. He will be a great addition to your family and will do well with a playful doggie companion who can be his pal. This guy is so loving, playful and active, he will enjoy being your new best friend and indoor house companion. He absolutely loves to be held and spend quality time with you, does well at the vet and is a good boy when taken to a groomer. One big added plus for the family who adopts him is a fenced yard to keep him safe when you put him outside to play and do his business. Hang on tight, maybe you and Rufus can be walking partners to get some exercise and explore the great outdoors. Please, please be patient with him on house training, he will need time and your patience to learn what is expected to be a good indoor dog.
His adoption fee is: $400. Please fill out an application to be approved.
