Meet Goldie, a spayed cocker spaniel girl about 6 years old. She has a natural tail and weighs less than 25 pounds. She was picked up as a stray by NC Animal Control. At the shelter, she tested as heartworm negative and they treated her for worms. She bit the gloved hand of the Animal Control officer when he picked her up. He said she was very, very scared, but friendly and rolled over for a belly rub. The shelter asked for rescue help.
She is heartworm negative, healthy and on the thin side, needing to gain a little. She is now on a good food diet and is doing a lot better. She was matted and dirty so we got her cleaned up and groomed. She is now updated on shots, on heartworm and flea prevention, her ears were pretty clean and she seems to be ok with friendly dogs but definitely avoids aggressive dogs. She cannot be placed into a home with children under 12 years old. With certain situations it seems that she has a chip on her shoulder and will snap. We are working with her on this issue. She will need your patience to continue making progress with her on the things that trigger this behavior and not blame her unnecessarily due to her past. We think that she must have been abused somehow, causing her to snap at different times. She will do best in a home with a nice dog social companion who can be her pal. She loves belly rubs, likes to cuddle, walks well on a leash and knows how to sit. She will need your help with house training in a new environment. This sweet girl would love to be a best friend and a favorite house companion. Spending quality time with you in a loving home environment with some guidance and positive reassurance will help her to learn to be a great companion. We feel that she will do best with patience from a new owner, guidance and reassurance and someone to love her for the sweet girl that we have come to know. She will be a wonderful cocker spaniel for you to love.
Her adoption fee is: $350.
