Meet Duane, a very active, black, one and a half year old Cocker/Lab mix who was passed off as a purebred English Cocker. He has the ears of a cocker and the body of a lab, so you can tell that he is not an English Cocker. He is an owner surrender looking for a new forever home. His owner was going to school and her boyfriend worked long hours so they really didn't spend much time with him. They didn't believe in crating him, so he was left daily for long time periods, alone and on his own, and would get into things. It annoyed them that he was such a high strung, very active guy. They didn't even try to exercise him or play with him. We feel that this nice boy needs a home where he has room to run and play, and someone who will get him some training and guidance too.
He is heartworm negative, neutered and a healthy boy. He is a sweet, loving, energetic, very active boy who will do best in a home with a securely fenced backyard. He will need patience from you along with some guidance and training on how to be a good companion. He will also need a bit of help with house training because his owners were gone so much and he did not get let out often enough. He needs to be taught what is right and wrong to be a good indoor companion with your patience and understanding of his past. He would love quality time with you in a home where the two of you can spend time doing things together. He is a strong boy and so active we DO NOT recommend an elderly home environment. He is kid friendly with children 7 plus years old. If you are willing to go the extra mile to help this nice boy learn how to be a great house companion, maybe he can learn to be your walking or jogging partner. He is just a sweet energetic, active boy and will be a nice companion for you to love. Maybe he could be your new best friend.
His adoption fee is: $400.
