This wonderful cocker boy has finished his heartworm treatment and is ready to find his forever home. He is super sweet and will make someone very happy to love him as a wonderful companion.
Meet Cole, a 4 year old black medium sized cocker spaniel boy. He was found at night by a Good Samaritan who was driving the streets of NC on a hot and humid July evening. She saw that he was alone and wandering like he had been out for awhile. His fur was quite dirty and matted, so she took him home and cleaned him up. She had dogs of her own and took him to her vet to see if he was micro-chipped. Turns out, he is, but the owners contact information is not current, like they moved, didn't care about him and just left him behind. She already had 3 dogs and couldn't keep him so she contacted this rescue.
At his initial vet appointment they found that he was on the thin side and needed to gain some weight. A good food diet has helped. Luckily, his ears looked good. He did have some skin and coat issues that showed up after he was groomed, due to flea dermatitis and this has been treated. It seems like he must have been kept outside a lot and unfortunately, the owner did not have him on any kind of heartworm prevention as his blood work showed a strong heartworm positive. He has had his heartworm treatment and is doing well with recovery time. He is truly a nice, friendly guy that someone will enjoy having as a wonderful companion. The lady who stopped found him kept him for 4 days while she was trying to find the owner. He did well with her dogs and she had older children who were nice to him, he loved the attention. He will be a wonderful cocker boy for someone to adopt, love and spend quality time with. He has a great personality and would enjoy being an indoor dog and your best friend. He can be a bit vocal at times, so apartment and condo living is not recommended.
His adoption fee is: $350.
