I AM A HAVEN DOG HERE IN RESCUE/ PLEASE SPONSOR ME: I am a senior cocker spaniel girl with health issues that are expensive. Your donations are needed to help with my vet care. Any amount can make a small difference. Your kindness to help these folks care for me is appreciated. I am not available for adoption, donations to help with my care are greatly appreciated.
Meet Buffy, a senior 14 year old, red n white cocker girl. The history of her first 3 years of life is unknown, but her shyness and lack of trust in people indicated that she had indeed been a victim of abusive treatment. Being at this rescue from day one, we have worked with her and she is so much better than she was when we took her in. Unfortunately, no one ever showed much interest in adopting her. When she started having eye issues, we took her to the vet and learned that she had glaucoma in one eye. It had advanced quickly and her eye was badly bulging and painful. Our only option at that point was to have her eye removed. After that visit, the good eye needed daily eye drops to keep it healthy until it started having issues and also had to be removed.
As a senior with health issues that sometimes just come up as a dog ages, Buffy was put on a special venison diet to keep her healthy. As a dog with an unknown past that needed to be tweaked for the better, we found that impact of prior abusive treatment can be overcome with patience and understanding to a point but not completely overcome by any means. She has made wonderful progress with the things she needed to work on and she gets along pretty well considering all of the issues that have hit her. If we had found the right home environment and someone who would go the extra mile, this cocker girl could have found a home. Unfortunately, nobody wanted her while she was a bit younger because of eye issues and special diet so now she is still here in rescue as a senior haven dog that no one wanted to adopt. She missed out on the chance to feel comfortable in a loving forever home simply because nobody wants an older dog with health issues, no eyes and on a special diet to stay healthy. You can help us by donating to her care as she can no longer go to a forever home due to her age and health. Please donate today and make sure to put her name on it. This way we will know that someone was nice enough to help her live the rest of her life here at CCR. Thank you for caring!
