Experienced dog owner needed for this boy. He needs to be the only dog in an all adult home with no kids
Meet Brutas, a 2 year old grayish salt n pepper male Shih Tzu. He is an owner surrender to this rescue and to young to die just because he has aggression issues. His owners were not dog savy people so their follow through on proper training was not the best. For whatever reasons, they did not follow the trainers advise when they were referred to him to help this boy. He needs to find a home with someone who can live with him the way that he is and can help him learn how to overcome his issues or at least make him less aggressive. It will take a special, very caring owner who will go the extra mile to care for him. We feel that he deserves to have a 2nd chance to be in a home.
He is heartworm negative and neutered. He is a healthy boy and is now getting along much better with dogs of all sizes. He is not much of a play dog. As long as you don't push him, expect to hug him or try to pat his head, he can live with you. He needs to find a home with someone who will accept him and his problems that need work, in order for him to overcome the aggressive issues. Maybe he has a screw loose in his head and that's why he just can't understand the human concept of us being nice to him. He cannot seem to get over becoming aggressive when he is asked or forced to do things which makes life difficult for him. We have been working with him and he is much better than when he first got here, he is even doing better at the groomer. But, he does still act out towards his foster mommy when she is nice to him and asks him to do something. In a nutshell, he is just a young doggie who does not like human love and attention. He will hang out with you but doesn't care to be hugged or loved on. This said, he needs to be the only dog in a home with an experienced dog owner who is a strong alpha owner. If you can take him for some training sessions maybe he can learn to overcome the triggers that affect him and have made him the aggressive way that he is. He wants to be able to enjoy life and eventually we hope become a better doggie. If you think that you have what it takes to be his alpha role model, please fill out an application to be approved to adopt him. He has seasonal allergies and is very protective. No kids for this boy, he doesn't do well with them at all. An all adult home is best. He will only be adopted out to an experienced local adopter who lives close enough to Kannapolis to use the trainer at Cabarrus Animal Hospital to help him with training, behavior and attitude issues. We know that it won't be easy for him or the new owner but we would like him to have the 2nd chance that he deserves to have a home and someone who will care to help him to be a better doggie.
His adoption fee is $350.
